Administrative License Revocation (ALR) Hearings
If you've been arrested for Driving While Intoxicated or Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor, your driver's license may be suspended. If you wish to request an Administrative License Revocation (ALR) hearing to contest the suspension, it is critical that you do so within 15 days of your arrest. (If you did not receive a notice of license suspension at the time of your arrest, you have 15 days from the date that you receive a written notice of license suspension to request a hearing.) I can assist you with your ALR hearing request and/or represent you at an ALR hearing. It is critical that you contact me promptly due to the short deadline for requesting an ALR hearing.
If you fail to request an ALR hearing before the deadline, if your license suspension is sustained at an ALR hearing, or if your driving privileges are suspended for any other reason, please be aware that driving on a suspended license may subject you to serious criminal penalties and costly administrative surcharges. However, you may be eligible to obtain an occupational license that will allow you to drive legally. I have taught over 65 hours of continuing legal education classes on this subject to lawyers and judges, and I can help you obtain an occupational license. Most occupational licenses allow the licensee to drive for limited work-related purposes, for school-related purposes, or to perform essential household duties. However, a recent change to Texas law has created a new category of occupational license that permits the licensee to drive anywhere, anytime, throughout the entire state of Texas. Please contact my office to determine if you are eligible for this type of occupational license.
